Autoresponder

The autoresponder, a marketer’s best friend. Autoresponders allow you to build up relationships with your mailing list subscribers on auto pilot, and once your pre written messages are set up you don’t have to touch your autoresponder again. Check the below pages for more autoresponder details, more information is always added so keep checking back.

What Is An Autoresponder

An auto responder is a piece of software that responds when an action is taken. This action may be someone sending you an email, and a response may be your autoresponder messaging the sender of the email back a pre written message. Autoresponders are used in all different ways, but it’s when it comes to email these autoresponders become very powerful! Using the right autoresponder software, you can create large autoresponder campaigns to deliver courses, keep customers informed about going ons, and much more beside.

Autoresponders come pretty much standard with email marketing programs these days, and most do a good job at automating your email marketing efforts. You can also get stand alone autoresponders, but ones that come with email marketing programs are recommended (Why get multiple pieces of software when one can do it all well).

The Benefits Of Using An Autoresponder

Using an autoresponder has many benefits, such as:

  1. Being able to communicate with customers using pre written message,
  2. Being able to send emails when you’re not around,
  3. Being able to deliver information as and when you see fit,

All of these things allow for easier email marketing campaigns, as they’ll all be automated. The biggest benefit of using an autoresponder program is that once you set it, everything else is done automatically without your input. This frees you up for focus on other areas of your business and maximise profits.

How To Use An Autoresponder

Once you get the hang of it, autoresponders aren’t very hard to use at all. The first thing you do is write up a message you want your autoresponder to send. When that’s finished, you put that message into the autoresponder and tell the autoresponder when you’d like it to send and who to. For example, you may tell the autoresponder to send this message to any customer that signs up to your mailing list. You may also tell them to send this message only after they’ve been signed up for a week. Once you have set up the settings you require you choose to run the autoresponder and that’s it, any time your settings are met your autoresponder is sent. You can also set up other autoresponders to go along side it, and edit any existing autoresponders as you see fit.

Since there are many different types of autoresponder, please note however that the way you use autoresponders may vary from software to software. Most can be used like this however.

What Can Autoresponders Be Used For

You can use autoresponders for a number of different purposes:

  • Using An Autoresponder To Deliver An Online Course
You can use a autoresponder to deliver an online course. Once someone signs up to your mailing list they will be drip fed your lessons via email over a set amount of time. You could provide 7 day courses where by at the end they’ll know everything they need to, or you could send an email once a week for as long as required. They choice really is up to you.
  • Deliver Seasons Greetings To Customers With Autoresponders
You can set up autoresponders to message people yearly whenever an occasion arrives. If you want to make customers feel like you remember them (And also remind them that your company exists), you could send them a message when it’s their birthday. So every year your autoresponder sends your customers a personalised birthday message automatically (For this you have to remember to take down their birthday when collecting their subscriber information). You may also want to send Christmas, Eid, or Diwali messages, but it depends on what your customer based celebrates.
  • Using Autoresponders To Build Relationships
If you’ve not much time on your hands but keeping a good relationship with your customers is very important to you, you can set up your autoresponder to build a relationship with your customers. The theory behind this is you want to send them regular communication so you stay in their mind and benefit them in some way. You can do this by sending your customer weekly emails. The key is to write up these emails before hand (Say three months worth of emails or a year’s worth), put them into the auto responder, and get on with your other work. Now whenever someone new signs up a large part of their customer relations is automatically taken care of.
  • Selling With Autoresponders
A lot of companies use autoresponders to sell to their customers. If you have a product which compliments one the customer has already bought for example, you may have a autoresponder message that shows them about this other product too. Similarly, if your product or service has a shelf life (E.G. three months), you can get your autoresponder to messages all customers who bought this product or service when three months is almost up. In the message you can remind them that what they’ve got is running out and should they want to buy a new one they can come to you.

Which Is The Best Autoresponder?

As I stated earlier, there are many different companies offering autoresponders. While many of them have the same core features, there are some that offer more then others. So which is the best autoresponder you can use? For me, it has to be Aweber. They’re cheap to use, they have all the features you could reasonably ask for when setting up an auto responding campaign, and they can be integrated with a large number of online marketing tools. This is due to them being the market leader and everyone wanting to make sure it’s compatible with them. This also means any new software getting created will also likely be Aweber compatible over other email marketing programs. Good luck in choosing the right autoresponder for you.
